Marvin Harrison, unfortunately, is a product of today's NFL.
The league that will soon be responsible for making him a 1st ballot Hall of Famer is the very same league that allows a magnificent and special player like Marvin to be cast away in favor of less expensive, and certainly much less talented, players. Players like Marvin deserve better and something must be done by the NFL, the owners and the players. Players should be able to go out on their terms (as long as those terms are reasonable for everyone) and not be entrapped by some crazy Salary Cap or Luxury Tax. While it is easy to understand the need for such parameters to maintain parity and fairness, it leaves a bad taste in your mouth.
It simply will not be same for the Indianapolis Colts and their fans. One of the greatest QB and WR combinations in the NFL history will no longer exist. It is hard to picture Marvin and his Number 88 in another uniform. Marvin should be able to go out in the same uniform and he came into the league.
Marvin Harrison, thank you for your unwavering loyalty and contributions to the NFL and to the Indianapolis Colts. I simply wish the NFL could do the same for you.
